Lloyd passed away at Deer View Lodge, Wawota, on Jan. 22, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Lloyd was born on Jan. 30, 1933 on the farm south of Estevan. He was the third child of twelve born to Gustave and Clara Marie Petterson.

Lloyd was a caring, kind individual and a willing and hard worker. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Over the years, he got much enjoyment from his many cats and dogs.

He attended Wood End, a one room country school. Lloyd was in the Canadian Army for a while and he also worked on the oil rigs. However, most of his working years were spent driving heavy equipment for road building. He farmed near Dumas for a spell. Later he worked for brothers, Roy and Ross and Blair Wilson. He moved to Wawota in the eighties. His faithful companions were his dog, Misty, and cat, Charlie Boy. He has resided at Deer View Lodge since January, 2012.

He married Jane Bradfield on July 7, 1962. He has one daughter, three granddaughters, and six great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his ex-wife Jane; father Gustave and mother Clara Marie; infant sister Fern; brother Allan; sister-in-law, Shirley Petterson; brothers-in-law, Zan Nikiforuk and Ronald Hepburn; nephew Douglas Hawgood; and great-niece, Lacey Florek.

He is survived by his daughter Joyce Petterson; three granddaughters Lilah Petterson (fiancé Andrew Douglass), Melissa (Chris) Barkway, and Heather (Sean) Brown; great-grandchildren: Allex Barnes and Loredo Petterson; Mikayla, Sophie, and Avery Barkway; and Starla Krawczyk; siblings Gladys Nikiforuk; Pearl (Ken) Cranch; Sonia (Ron) Hawgood; Ross (Donna) Petterson; Roy Petterson; Fay (Leverne) Silzer; Alice (Jerry) Dutcyvich; Elsie Hepburn; Arnold (Ruth) Petterson; and sister-in-law, Geraldine Kidson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses; great-nieces and nephews and their spouses; and great-great nieces and nephews; cousins in Canada and Norway; and his friends.

A memorial service to remember Lloyd’s life was held at the Wawota Free Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Feb. 4, 2013. The interment was held by the family at the Wawota Cemetery prior to the funeral. Tubman Funeral Home of Wolseley was in care of arrangements.
