James Richard Etherington, beloved husband of Eileen Etherington, of Rocanville, Saskatchewan, passed away at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Moosomin, on Saturday, January 10, 2015 in his 75th year. Funeral service was in St. Paul’s United Church, Rocanville on Thursday, January 15 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Delta Kelly officiating. Interment was in Webster Cemetery, Rocanville. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to St. Paul’s United Church Renovation Fund or the Wilkie Field Play Structure Fundraiser in care of the Rocanville Recreation Board, in memory of Jim.

Jim was born January 23, 1940 to Susan and Allan Etherington. He took his schooling at Old Rocanville School. He did some work in the oilfield near Virden, Manitoba before taking up full time mixed farming with his dad in the early ‘60s.

Jim married Eileen Lowe in 1963. They continued to farm until 2002 when they retired and moved to their home in Rocanville.

He was active in his community, served on many boards and coached minor hockey for 12 years. His friends and family along with golfing, fishing, curling, hunting, music and travel, were amongst his passions.

Jim is survived by wife Eileen; son Eddie (Kim); daughter Glenda (Ken); grandsons Derrick (Kelly), Travis, and Jordan (Haley); great-granddaughter Josslyn; step granddaughters Krysten (Tyler), Kaitlyn (Adam), Sierra (Karson) and step great-granddaughters Kessi and Gemma; his sister Marjorie (Rae); brothers-in-law Mervyn (Joan), Lorne (Edna), Delbert (Fern) and Morley; sisters-in-law Val and Maureen; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He was predeceased by his mother in 1962; his father in 1978; brothers-in-law Ken and Eldon; and sister-in-law Terry.

Jim loved life. He was a strong, determined, patient and gentle man who never complained. He would not let health issues get in his way. He was a very loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend who showed us what great strength he really had right until Saturday afternoon when he reach the end of his journey here on earth.
