Cecile Emily, beloved wife of Donald Cowan, passed away peacefully with family and the caring staff at Virden Health Centre by her side, on January 27, 2013.

Cecile was born on March 1, 1943 in Hartney, Man. to her parents Adelard and Jeanne Vodon. She was one of nine children. She was raised on their farm in Grande Clairiere, Man. and attended school to Grade 9.

She helped her parents on the farm until she met and married her first husband, Steve Kotylak in 1962. They were blessed with three children, Tonia, Tony and Tina. In 1973 their marriage ended and she moved to Elgin, Man. She raised the three children on her own until 1977 when she met Donald Cowan.

This union then added two more children to her family, Kim and Michelle. She then moved to McAuley, Man. and spent the rest of her life enjoying her love of farming. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and of course cards. Never one to pass up a good game of cribbage, she was so proud when she finally was dealt the perfect hand. Crocheting and then later years knitting were great pass times.

She was always happy to visit with her family when she could. Days spent with her siblings and her husband at casinos were always fun. One of the happiest days of her life was approximately two years ago when she finally said "I do" to her husband on March 1, 2011, her birthday.
She always had a cup of coffee for visitors and she could cook like no other.

She was predeceased by her parents, Adelard and Jeanne Vodon, sisters Alice, Flora, Lenore and Lorraine.

She will forever be remembered by husband Donnie and her children; Tonia Sparks (Dennis) and their daughter Jessica; Tony Kotylak (Donna) and their children Kayla (Curtis), Samantha and Morgan; Tina Creller (Rob) and her children Dustin and Tianna; Kim Cowan (Lisa), and their children Drake, Reece and Slade; Michelle Duncan (Jim) and their children Lucus and Nathan; as well as four great-grandchildren, Ryder, Jacoby, Xander and Kyler; Her brothers, Wilfred (Patsy) Vodon, Rolly (Shannon) Vodon, Maurice (Barb) Vodon and sister Lina Bertholet, and numerous nieces nephews, and many good friends.

The funeral was held at Carscaddens Funeral Chapel on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013. Interment was held at the McAuley Cemetery.
