Howard was born and raised on the farm northeast of Fleming. He joined the Canadian army 6th Division Duke of Connaught Royal Canadian Hussars on April 15, 1941.
He married Merle Crosson in 1947. They had five children: Jim (Karen), Larry (Linda), Bill (Brenda), Dan (Audra), Karen (Barry); 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Merle; parents Arthur and Lucy; brothers Harry, Clarence, Walter, and Bert; sisters Margaret and Elsie; and a number of brothers- and sisters-in-law.
He is survived by brother Archie (Gwen); sisters-in-law Jean and Phylis and brother-in-law Jim.
He farmed at Red Jacket, Mair, and finally New Hastings district until he retired to Moosomin.
He was always a kind and caring person to all who were around him. He was always very involved in what his children were doing. He was very involved in the Legion. Howard and Merle traveled to every continent except Africa.
He really enjoyed his years in the nursing homes in Broadview and Moosomin. Howard will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Howard was laid to rest at Moosomin south cemetery.
