David was born in Salmon Arm, B.C. and moved to the Moosomin, Sask. area in 1950 where he was raised and spent most of his life.

He attended the Iona School, Coverdale School, and Moosomin School where he graduated in 1967. He briefly worked in construction in Regina, Sask. and as a surveyor in Outlook, Sask. and Calgary, Alta. and then went on to farm in the Moosomin area. David married Irene Restau in 1969 and they have two children, Shelley and Michael, and two grandchildren, Jordan and Landon.

He started farming his parents’ farm in 1971 and then bought a farm in the Spring Creek district in 1976. He retired from farming in 2004 and they moved to the Nipawin area to enjoy the great fishing.

David had many hobbies and interests including hunting and fishing, playing cards (especially cribbage), antiques and classic cars, curing and smoking meats, gardening, politics, history, archaeology, having coffee with friends, and teasing his grandsons among many others. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, witty remarks, giving and helping nature, jovial and fun-loving spirit, and how he made everyone laugh.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Jean and his brother Dennis.
He is survived by his wife Irene, daughter Shelley Zarich (Steve), son Michael, grandsons Jordan and Landon Zarich, sisters Donna and Pat, brother John (Carol), as well as many nieces and nephews and other extended family.

David passed away at the Nipawin Hospital. There will be a celebration of life memorial service at the Moosomin Armoury Hall on August 20, 2015 at 2 p.m. The dress is casual and family and friends are welcome to attend.
