Mary Lipsey passed away peacefully on November 10, 2015 after a long, productive life. She was born at Elkhorn, Manitoba on November 25, 1909 to William and Sarah Marshall. Her family lived in the McAuley, Moosomin and Fairlight areas.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Jim Lipsey; her brothers Morris, Avery, Bill and Ed Marshall; her sister Margaret Moran; and her niece Shirley Evans.

She is survived by her daughter Phyllis Hall; nephews and nieces Allan Moran, Ray Moran, Lee Neville, Thelma Church, Joyce Fyke, Edith McCuaig, Bev Webb, Olive Sampson, Anita Lipsey, Bill Lipsey and Alice Wilson, as well as several cousins.

Mary and Jim farmed for many years in the Dayton District, retiring to Moosomin in 1967. Mary worked at the Moosomin Lodge for several years. She was involved with activities at the Drop-In Centre and supported the United Church and other community organizations.

Mary was a strong, independent person. She was interested in current events and also the monarchy. She never missed a royal wedding on TV. She was a great cook and her flower and vegetable garden was a passion. She travelled across Canada, to England, Hawaii and on several trips to mainland U.S.A., often with her sister and brother-in-law.

She very much valued her family and friends and appreciated their visits. The long-time relationships with her friends and neighbors, in particular Darlene Marshall, Reverend Betty Garrett and the Courtney family, were important to her.

Mary lived for many years on Gordon Street, then Centennial Manor before moving to the Long Term Care facility. Mary was happy and content at the care facility where excellent care was provided.

Thank you to Dr. Kerkhoff, the nursing and other staff for your care and compassion.

Reverend Joan Rennie Laing conducted a graveside service for family on November 18, 2015 at Inglesfield cemetery. Later lunch was served at the United Church hall in Moosomin.
