Nicholas Frank Asmundson was born October 13, 1944 in Haywards Heath, Sussex, England to Harvey and Jean Asmundson. He was the eldest of six brothers and grew up near Eston, Saskatchewan until high school when his family moved to Redvers.

Nick married Connie Alldred on December 29, 1964 in Redvers, Saskatchewan. Nick worked at the potash mine in Rocanville, Saskatchewan starting as an underground mechanic in 1970 and retiring in 2001 as the Superintendent of Human Resources.

Upon retirement Nick and Connie moved to Fishing Lake, Saskatchewan where they enjoyed their summers with family and their winters in warmer climates.

Nick passed away March 19, 2013 in Casa Grande, Arizona.

In Rocanville he was the chairman of the Curling Rink board for 25 years, curling competitively whenever possible. He was Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department, initiating the establishment of the First Responders and a new rescue vehicle. He coached minor ball while his sons were involved. He also served on the local school board.

At Fishing Lake he was an active member of the Resort Village Council and the chairman of the local Watershed Authority, helping his community through flood disaster and rebuilding.
Nick had a big impact on all the communities where he resided. Those who worked and volunteered with Nick knew him as a very capable and determined person who was able to have a positive impact on everything he was a part of.

His energy, enthusiasm, caring and generous nature is what made him the wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend that we all loved.
He was predeceased by his parents Harvey and Jean, his brother Phillip and Connie's parents, Garnett and Fern Alldred.

Nick is survived by his wife Connie; children Todd (Barb) of Saskatoon and Travis (Jennifer) of Pilot Butte; grandchildren Brooke, Zane, Jacob, Joshua, Noah; Honorary Family members Rob, Cheryl, Jade and Bailey Saunders; brothers Garth (Coral) of Lumsden, Keith (Karen) of Mississauga, Ontario, Blaine (Judith) of Cumberland, B.C., Randy (Cathy) of Regina; brothers-in-law, Morley (Sharon) of Vancouver, Garth (Charlene) of Herbert, Sask., Verne (Sandra) of Saskatoon, Keith of Yorkton, Glen (Marilyn) of Regina; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held on March 29, 2013 at Tompkins Funeral Home in Wadena, Sask. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Foam Lake Golf Course.
