Patricia McCutcheon of Moosomin, Saskatchewan, passed away at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre in Moosomin, Saskatchewan on Saturday February 13, 2016 at the age of 71 years.

Patricia Jean Nixon was born on December 15th, 1944 in Moosomin, Saskatchewan to parents, Jean and Arthur Nixon. She was the 4th of 6 children: Delbert, Margaret, Donald, Pat, Val and Donna.

Pat grew up in the Kendalton District and went to Kendalton School and then to Wapella School.

Once finished school she moved to the “big city”of Regina, Saskatchewan to attend hairdressing school.

Pat met Royce Barry McCutcheon of the Prosperity District and they were married in 1964. Between 1964 and 1975, five sons were born.

Kevin Royce was born on August 12th, 1964 (Wife Lesley, Daughter Jessica, Son Brian and Brian’s girlfriend Ashly).

Ken Barry was born on April 17th, 1966 (Partner Brenda, Daughter Kennedy, Son Shaye and Son Kaelix).

Kelly James was born on Sept 18th, 1968 (deceased on November 6th, 1992).

Bradley Wade was born on March 21st, 1973 (Partner Joeilynn and Daughter Morgan).

Blaine Robin was born on November 26th, 1975 (Wife Tanya, Daughter Larissa and Son Aiden).

Pat always took pride in many things including her career, her children’s activities, the community and many family events. Pat and her family lived in many communities throughout Saskatchewan but eventually ended up back at home in Wapella, Saskatchewan in 1972.

Pat’s career had taken a sideline to being a stay-at- home Mom but once she was back in Wapella she decided to go back to work outside of the home. She worked in a restaurant and then in a grocery store and then settled in long term as a “jack of all trades” for Home-All Building Centre in Wapella and Moosomin.

In 1988 Pat moved to Whitewood to work as the Housekeeping Manager at the Whitewood Inn. In 1993 Pat and Royce decided to go their separate ways. Pat met Brian Maki and subsequently moved to Brian’s family farm in 1995. She continued to work at the Whitewood Inn and also worked on the Maki farm.

Brian passed away in 2003 after a lengthy battle with Cancer. Pat continued to live and work on the Maki farm until 2005 when she relocated to Tantallon, Saskatchewan. She spent the next 10 years in Tantallon enjoying her retirement.

Pat was involved in many activities and community events and dedicated much of her time to being the President of “The Hut” community centre. She also spent most of her summers at her cottage at Westend, Round Lake.

Pat loved the outdoors and spent a great amount of time gardening around her cottage and just enjoying the lake life with family and friends. In 2015 Pat relocated to Moosomin, Saskatchewan. She reunited with many people she knew from the Moosomin area and also made many new friends during her short time in Moosomin. Her favourite pastimes were playing cards and particularly cribbage, quilting, camping, travelling and snowmobiling but her single most favourite pastime was spending time with her sons, daughters-in -law and grandchildren.

Pat could always brighten someone’s day with just a few words and was always a pleasure to spend time with.

In 2014, Pat was diagnosed with cancer. She faced many challenges over the coming months and even though she fought a strong battle with a courageous positive attitude, her earthly journey ended on February 13th, 2016 with her oldest son Kevin by her side.

She will be remembered for the unconditional love and support that she gave so readily and freely and her ability to make friends with anyone.

She was predeceased by her son Kelly, her parents Jean and Arthur, her brother Delbert, her sister Margaret, her brother Donald, her partner Brian and her brothers in-law Fred and Al.

She leaves to mourn her sons: Kevin (Lesley), Ken (Brenda), Brad (Joeilynn) and Blaine (Tanya), grandchildren: Jessica, Brian (Ashley), Kennedy, Larissa, Morgan, Shaye, Kaelix and Aiden.

Pat also leaves to mourn her sisters: Val, Donna and her sister-in-law Sharon along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service was held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Wapella, Saskatchewan on Thursday, February 18th at 2:00 p.m. with Dawn Wilson officiating. Interment was at the Wapella Cemetery.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Pat.
