Jean Marie Anne Dickson of Wawota, Saskatchewan passed away at Brooks Health Centre in Brooks, Alberta on March 7th, 2016 at the age of 86.

Jean was born on December 3rd, 1929 in Whitewood to John and Susan McKinnon. John was a section foreman with the CP Railroad and when Jean was 10 they transferred to Redvers.

After leaving school Jean worked at the Bank of Commerce in Redvers until she married Albert Dickson in 1951. They moved to a farm in the Parkman/Wawota district and there they raised four children and saw many grandchildren come to visit; maybe even staying for a couple of days.

Jean was not a farmer and would be the first to tell anyone. She didn’t like cattle or horses but she did it for love of Albert and held the reins for the children when needed.

The stories the kids could tell…

In 1982 they bought a house in Wawota and moved into town. Albert still went to the farm every day and Jean happily stayed in town but went to the farm whenever Albert needed her.

Both Jean and Albert were involved with the Legion and were always helping out when and where they could. Just a phone call from anyone would bring them both to help.

Jean was also involved with the CWL and they relied on her organizational skills and willingness to assist.

Jean and Albert enjoyed camping at Lake of the Prairies and the Pickerel, Pike and Perch were plentiful; there they met many people and developed lifelong friendships.

Jean loved gardening, her flower beds, family card games and her grandchildren and great grandchildren all tried their hand to beat grandma at Shanghai.

She enjoyed travelling and vacationed to Vancouver, Ottawa and Scotland.

Jean is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, one sister, mother and father in law, loving husband of 48 years, two sisters in-law, four brothers in-law and her daughter Gayle Nordal.

She leaves behind her daughter Brenda Rose (Ray Stevenot) of Brooks, Alberta; son Grant Dickson (Heather Stewart) of Prince George, BC; son in-law David Nordal of Regina and daughter Marlene Penney (Hugh Smyth) of Langbank, Saskatchewan; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren; Teresa Penney (Bill Moody) Devron, Carver Wristyn, Danette Berkley (Troy) and Brady, Keith Nordal (Tamara), Barb (Ben) Switzer and Chanse and Tess, Curtis Mowbray (Aimee Weiss) son Jaxon step children Carlie, Cody, Keagan, Kyal, Isabelle and Emma, Rhandi (Jamie) Langme and Baylee, Payge Kyalem, Krista Penney (Clay Pickard) son Jett, Amber (Eric) Dickson, Alana (Justin) Dickson, Roger Rose, Ariel, Abbey, David Rose (Melissa Brochu).
