Ione Ann Howes, 87, of Moosomin, SK, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2016, at the SEICC Long Term Care comforted by all her children.

Ione was born in the Richmound, SK area on September 14, 1928, the fourth child of Christine and Axel Pederson.

Ione enjoyed sports and played any one she could, with baseball being her favorite. She also loved nature in all its beauty from flowers to birds to rocks and extended this love to her children. Ione was well loved by family and friends.

Ione was predeceased by her parents; two infant children, Lois and Richard; a sister, Marjorie Hoffman, of Victoria, B.C.; two brothers, Robert Pederson, of Edmonton, AB and William Pederson, of Rocanville, SK and her husband of 57 years, John Howes, of Moosomin, SK.

Ione is survived by her sister, Doris Gropp, of Edmonton, AB; two sisters-in-law, Betty Pederson, of Edmonton, AB and Edith Pederson, of Rocanville, SK; her three daughters, Nicky (Allen) Currie, of Moosomin, SK; Jyl (Blaine) Oliver, of Elkhorn, MB and Jacqueline (Chris) Halford, of Indian Head, SK and her four sons, Michael (Susan); Daniel (Mary Lou); Colin and Kevin (Val), all of Moosomin, SK, as well as 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Ione requested a private service and burial which will take place at a later date with G.R. Carscadden Funeral Chapel handling all the funeral arrangements.

The family extends sincere thanks to Ione’s doctors, nurses, caregivers, recreation co-ordinators, the Resident Council, Special Care Auxiliary, housekeeping and kitchen staff at the SEICC Long Term Care for the care and special kindness given to Ione.
