Melvin McGonigal

Melvin McGonigal passed away at the South East Integrated Care Centre with his family at his side.
Melvin was the son of Issac and Elizabeth McGonigal. He was born in Welwyn and then the family went farming west of Moosomin. On June 30, 1951 he married Ruth Marsh and they lived in Moosomin until the time of his death.
He worked a few various jobs and then worked for the Moosomin Municipality for 37 years right up to his retirement.
Melvin loved hunting, trapping, guns, going for drives in the country, tinkering around with snowblowers and lawn mowers. He also loved all of his pets over the years and leaves behind his special cat "Rusty."
He is predeceased by sons Dennis and Darren; grandson Lyndon; parents Issac and Elizabeth; brothers George, Ray, Dennis, Keith and Delbert; sisters Doreen, Joy and Marion.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 61 years, Ruth; daughter Carolyn (Earl); son Jeff (Danette); daughter-in-law Judy; grandchildren Kristen (Rene), Brendan, Niquitta, Shelby, Kelly (Becky), Krista (Dereck), Keegan (Brittany) and great-grandson Cole; brothers Norman (Rose), Lawrence, Derrick (Mary), Glen (Ilene), Dale (Carol), Reg (Barb), sisters Marilyn, Betty, Jean, Francis, Violet (Zach), and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at Carscadden's Funeral Chapel on April 4, 2013 with Rev. John Houtman officiating.
Interment will be at Moosomin South Cemetery at a later date.
