James Alexander Goldsmith of Moosomin, Sask., died on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the age of 80 years in the South East Integrated Care Centre Moosomin - Long Term Care - Whispering Pines. Jim was born September 28, 1935 at the home farm south of Wapella to John and Mary Goldsmith. He is survived by his soul mate Beverley Beutler and her family; a sister Eileen Craigie, brother-in-law Ralph Van Iderstine; sisters Ruth (Arnold) Schmidt and Merle (Ron) Krueger; brothers George (Shirley) and Don (Marlene) as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents Mary and John, sister Mabel (Albert), brother Bill, sisters Sadie (Henry) and Jean, brothers-in-law Clem Craigie and Walter Gamble. Jim owned Caterpillar Dozers and did land clearing. Jim enjoyed farming, and worked on oil rigs in Kuwait in the Middle East, Alberta and Manitoba. He served as Reeve for Silverwood R.M. for thirteen years. He retired from farming in 1994 and moved to Round Lake in 2002. In 2012 Jim and Bev moved into Moosomin. Contributions in memoriam may be made to the Moosomin Long Term Care Home if friends so desire. As it was Jim’s wishes there will be no funeral services.
