Colby Becker passed away suddenly on July 8th, 2016 enjoying his greatest passion, being a flying farmer. Beloved son of Dean and Lana Becker, he was born October 20th, 1993.

Colby was a farm boy. His favourite words when anyone took him for a ride in a piece of equipment were “let me drive”. Of course, we all did, and the seeds of a farmer were planted.

It was always engines that got him going; as a young boy he was never without a sled, or a quad, or a dirt bike. Evenings at the shack, long night drives to the mountains and countless muddy back roads and puddles helped him to form friendships with everyone he met. Numerous Danish farm boys, who made their way to the farm over the years, have grown to become some of his dearest friends. A short adventure in Wongan Hills, Australia also formed many unbreakable bonds.

At 15, a dear friend, and later mentor, Nacho, introduced him to flying. There was no holding him back. He obtained his private licence in 2013 and Pop promptly purchased a Cessna 172. In 2015, he furthered his education in Bainbridge, Georgia and completed his Ag Flight Pilot training, followed by his first major purchase – an Air Tractor 301. No visit to the farm was complete without a tour of his hangar and his planes.

Predeceased by his loving grandma Esther Becker he leaves to mourn his passing 2 siblings, Jill and Brady (Candy) Becker, Grandparents Bruce and Eileen Dunsmore, and Frank (Zena) Becker, Granny Jean Dunsmore, Uncle Calvin Dunsmore, and Auntie Dale Geck along with numerous family and friends.

A dear friend “Hunny” said it best, “Colby Becker you are the face of life itself. A smile to light the world and a passion for life that was second none.”

A funeral service took place on Friday, July 15th, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Rocanville Arena, Rocanville, Saskatchewan. Interment to follow in Webster Cemetery, Rocanville, Saskatchewan. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to Rocanville Fire Department, Moosomin Fire Department or STARS in memory of Colby.
