Nehaj, Maria (Mary), October 25, 1926 - July 22, 2016, aged 89 years. It is with great sadness the children of Maria (Mary) announce the passing of their mother at the Canora Hospital. Mary was born at Lowe Farm, MB. At the age of two, she was diagnosed with Polio and spent a trying childhood in hospitals and therapy.

On February 7, 1948 she married Alex Nehaj and together they had six children. Mary and Alex moved several times during their early years but finally settled in Wawota, SK., where Mary continued to be very active in the community. She belonged to almost every club and enjoyed the social atmosphere. Many people will remember her as an avid Bingo player. After seeing their children safely off on their own, Mary and Alex moved to Westbank, B.C., to retire. Mary moved back to Saskatchewan to Canora and later to Eaglestone Lodge in Kamsack, SK.

She is predeceased by her husband Alex, parents Henry and Anna, brothers John, Henry and Jake, sister Helen and grandson Myron.

She is survived by her children Gary (Patricia), Bev (Don) Lerner, Dar (Jim) VanDresar, Jan Tymko, Kim (Wayne) Grywachski, Lori (Dennis) Tluchak, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren – who will miss mom and grandma very much.

A graveside service, with interment to follow, will be held August 5, 2016 at 11:00am from the Wawota Cemetery, Wawota, SK., with a reception to follow at the Wawota Town Hall, Wawota. For more information or to leave a note of condolence for the family please visit Wolkowski.ca
