It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Colin Robert Nixon on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at the age of 57 years.

He is predeceased by his beloved sister Judy.

Colin is survived by his parents, Martin and Carrie Nixon of Moosomin, his children Erin (Jered) of Vancouver, B.C. and Adam of Calgary, Alta., brother Alvin (Lynn) of Wapella, and sisters Holly and Sandi both of Regina. Colin also leaves to mourn his dear friend Sheilagh Garrett of Moosomin and many, many in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Colin attended Wapella School, Moosomin High School and SIAST (STI) Palliser Campus in Moose Jaw where he became an Auto Body Technician.

He married Carol Hanson of Moosomin and moved to Edmonton to obtain work in the auto body repair industry eventually receiving his Interprovincial Auto Body Repair Certificate in Alberta. Colin and Carol's children were born and raised in Edmonton. Colin changed career paths in 1988, attending Grant McEwen College for two years to study Insurance Administration. Colin then obtained employment with Wawanesa Insurance where he worked as an insurance adjuster and computer consultant until he retired in 2011 from the Wawanesa Insurance Head Office in Winnipeg.

Colin moved back to Moosomin, bought a home and renovated it, and was living there until the time of his recent illness.

Colin had many interests. His love of family, photography, and computers allowed him to focus some of his energies to the creation and maintenance of detailed family history records for both sides of the family. He was a woodworker, a carpenter, a builder able to solve problems in brilliantly creative ways. His love of the outdoors, birds and all other wildlife was a large part of who he was. Colin will be remembered by all who knew him for his sense of humour, his thoughtfulness, and his gentleness.

A funeral service took place on Friday, April 19, 2013 at St. Andrew's United Church in Wapella. Interment was held in Wapella Cemetery, Wapella, Sask. In lieu of flowers, donations in Colin's memory may be made to any of the following: Moosomin and District Health Care Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Canadian Cancer Society.

The family would sincerely like to thank the staff at Moosomin Integrated Health Care Facility, the Regina General Hospital, and the Pasqua Hospital for the wonderful care, love, and support that was given to Colin during his stays in each of those facilities.
