It is with a very sad and heavy heart that I announce the passing of my best friend and companion Larry. Born October 9, 1943 to Alfred (deceased) and Noraleen (deceased), he was the youngest of three children, brother Trevor (Jeannette) and sister Shirley (deceased) (Garnet) Smith (deceased).

He spent his happy childhood near Welwyn, Sask. and operated a dairy farm in his early adult years.

Larry was involved in politics from a young age and was asked to help build the Conservative party. In 1975 he was elected in the Moosomin area where he served his constituents with truth and honour for 12 years.

A man with high morals and standards, he didn’t run for a fifth term. Living the rest of his life in Regina, Larry was involved in other projects with politics and government.

He is survived by his wife Debra; seven children Daniel (Rebecca), Pamela, Christopher, Shawn (Celeste), Jay, Brendan (Theresa) and Tyler (Janna); two stepchildren Danielle (Travis) and Kevin (Jenna); 11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service was held at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, Sask. on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.

Interment was held at Welwyn Cemetery later that day at 3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Larry may be made to the Regina Humane Society, P.O. Box 3143, Regina, SK S4P 3G7 or Regina Palliative Care Inc., 1802 McAra Street, Regina, SK S4N 6C4.
