With heavy hearts the family of Margaret Jean Lee (Swanston), share the news of her passing. Margaret passed away at Regina General Hospital in Regina, Sask. on Thursday August 11, 2016 at the age of 78 with her family at her side.

Margaret was born April 24, 1938 at the Swanston family farm in the Rural Municipality of Moosomin, the fourth of six children born to Basil and Jean Swanston.

Margaret attended Cailmount Country School and went on to graduate from Welwyn School in 1956.

Margaret continued her education at the Wheat City Business College in Brandon, Man. working one year with Binkley Motors in Brandon. In 1958 she became employed with Saskatchewan Wheat Pool in Saskatoon until returning to Brandon in 1960, where she was the first woman employed with the Brandon City Police, as the secretary to the Magistrate.

Margaret married Donald Rodney Lee May 20, 1961 at the Trinity United Church in Welwyn, Sask.

They began married life in Brandon, moving to McAuley in March 1962 as Rodney was transferred with Trans Canada Pipelines Station #25 (Moosomin.)

Family life was filled with sport activities such as hockey, figure skating, baseball, curling, camping trips and many great stories and valued friendships came from these years.

She always had a great talent playing the piano by ear, hum a tune and she could play it.

In late 1973 Margaret and her family moved to the TransCanada Pipeline station at Moosomin.

Margaret returned to work in 1976 and enjoyed working for 20 years with the World-Spectator Newspaper.

As the children grew up Margaret found new interests, golfing, and a passion for Genealogy.

In 1988 Rod and Marg built their new home in Moosomin and proudly welcomed in family and friends.

Retirement in April 1996 meant more time for her three beloved grandsons Tyler, Mark and Josh. She was so proud of all their accomplishments and would make sure she had pictures and clippings of their events.

Margaret loved life, always ready to take on a new adventure. Her years of scrap booking and picture albums will be treasured memories for a life time.

Margaret and Rodney have enjoyed travelling around the world—England, Scotland, Eastern Europe, China, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, United States and across Canada and many cruises with her brother and sister-in-law.

In her last four years, Margaret demonstrated her strength and humility as she battled a variety of health issues but rarely was heard to speak about them.

Margaret will be cherished by husband of 55 years, Rodney; daughter Heather (Kevin) Wood, Grandchildren Tyler (Courtney and Alexis), Mark and Josh; son Scott (Carla); Brothers Donald (Jolayne); Bruce (Sharon) and Sister-in-law Ellen; Brothers-in-law Jack (Beatrice), Craig (Beth), sister-in-law Ellen Lee and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by parents Basil and Jean and brothers Robert (Bob), Edward (Ted) and Herb.

Funeral service was held August 17, 2016 at Bethel United Church, Moosomin, Sask. with Reverend Joan Laing officiating. Interment followed at Moosomin South Cemetery.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Bethel United Church Restoration Fund or the Moosomin and District Health Care Foundation.
