Doug was born on May 13, 1944 on the home farm to Paul and Ora Gagnon. He grew up in the Rocanville/Welwyn area and attended Elim School and Welwyn for high school.

Growing up he helped his parents on the farm. Doug took a mechanics course in Brandon in 1963. He lived in a boarding house while he went to school there and met and married the girl next door.

Doug and Lynne Foord were married on January 25, 1964 at First Church United in Brandon.

Their children Deanna and Ken were both born in Brandon.

He did his apprenticeship at Brandon Co-op, and received his journeyman’s certificate in Winnipeg in 1968.

Doug then worked at the Mid-Town Shell and Green Acres Gulf service stations.

In 1974 Doug and Lynne moved to Rocanville and later to the family farm where he farmed and raised livestock for many years.

He served on the Rocanville RM Council for eight years and was active with the Co-op and Wheat Pool. When he retired from farming he worked for Municipal Hail for about 15 years.

Doug enjoyed curling and spending time with family and friends.

Doug was predeceased by his wife Lynne, parents Paul and Ora Gagnon and Lynne’s parents Wilbert and Nesta Foord.

Left to cherish his memory are: daughter Deanna (Greg) Carver; son Ken (Wendy) Gagnon; grandsons Andrew, Matthew, Michael (Casey), and Nicholas Carver, Jake Gagnon; sisters-in-law Lois Jones and Judy Runions as well as many cousins and friends.

Memorial tributes may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan in memory of Doug.
