A Life Well Lived.

Elizabeth May (Betty) Gordon was born on October 22, 1923 and died on October 30, 2016 at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Moosomin, Sask. at the age of 93 years.

Betty and her husband Les Gordon owned and operated a dairy farm at Wapella for decades. Like many farm women, she was the backbone of the operation and worked tirelessly to ensure its success.

She was trained as a teacher and taught at Confederation and Cranbrook schools and as a substitute teacher in Wapella.

She was a strong supporter of the public school system and active in the Saskatchewan Home and School Association, serving a term as provincial president.

A strong supporter of the Regional Library system, Betty was on the Board of the Southeast Regional Library for many years.

She was involved with the National Farmers Union and served as District Director as well as being very active in the community, supporting many other organizations such as the United Church and the Community Development Society.

Betty and Les enjoyed meeting people and learning about different cultures in their travels to Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica, The United States and China.

An active woman, Betty enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing, however, dancing was her passion. She and Les loved travelling to dances across the province, but especially enjoyed dancing with their friends at the West End Dance Club and Rainbow Hall.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Leslie, brothers William and Dr. James Dean and sister Roberta (Bertie) Montgomery.

Betty leaves behind son John (Marg); daughters Maureen (David) Lloyd and Anne (Garry) Bonkowski. She's also survived by her grandchildren: Brian, Joel (Michelle) and Haley Gordon, Tracy (Brent Charles) and Cory Lloyd and Daniel Bonkowski; great-grandchildren Bronwen and Julian Foote as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Betty's life was held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Wapella United Church, Wapella, Sask. with lunch to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wapella United Church or to the Moosomin and District Health Care Foundation, in memory of Betty.
