Myrna was born near Welwyn, Sask. to Ada (Hilts) and Alex McGibney.

She attended school at Cambridge School and in Rocanville. She earned her teaching certificate and spent many extra hours upgrading to a Bachelor of Education degree. She spent most of her career at Rocanville high school teaching English and accounting (her favorite subjects) among other subjects.

Myrna will be remembered for her love of teaching, her generosity, and her never-failing devotion to the Toronto Blue Jays. She was always up for a road trip or an outdoor adventure. She enjoyed volunteering for the Moosomin library as well as the Moosomin food bank and thrift store. She loved gardening and being outside in the hot weather.

She was predeceased by her infant brother Alexander, her brother Harold, and her parents Ada and Alex.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Svendsen and son-in-law Tim Liesch of St. Joseph, Sask. and their children Lisa, Tina, Mike and Sara; son Jim Svendsen of North Portal, Sask. (Kim Nicholson) and his sons AJ and Elijah; daughter Christie McGonigal of Moosomin, Sask. and her son Will; and great-granddaughter Charly Liesch. She is also survived by her brother Ken McGibney of Lake Isle, Alberta; nieces Kathy McGibney and Debbie McGibney and their families; nephews Michael Graham and Patrick Graham and their families; and beloved relatives from the McGibney and Hilts families. Also left to mourn her passing are many friends; former colleagues and students; and staff at SEICC, Pasqua Hospital MSU and Regina General MICU.

Interment will take place on Friday, June 30 at the Welwyn cemetery with a time of remembrance to follow at the Welwyn curling rink. Donations in Myrna’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
