Mary passed away on March 5, 2018 at the age of 94 years at Bowcrest Manor.

Mary was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on November 5, 1923.

She trained to be a registered nurse at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina during the Second World War. She went on to get a further qualification in orthoptics, working in Spokane for several years before returning to Canada. Mary worked as an orthoptics specialist at the Calgary Children’s Hospital. She went on to become the head of the department, where she worked until retirement.

Mary enjoyed a long retirement, traveling widely with her husband, Roy. She spent much of her spare time researching her family tree. Mary was also an avid reader, often reading late into the night.

Mary is survived by her three step children, Patricia Robson, Ruth Louie, and Donald Holding; her eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and her surviving cousins.

Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Bob, Walter, and Jack Davidson; and her husband, Stanley Roy Holding.

Funeral Service will be held at McInnis and Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W., Calgary, AB), on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 3:30 pm.
