George Szafron

George Szafron passed away peacefully on August 21, 2020 at the Assiniboia Union Hospital, Assiniboia, SK at the age of 90.
He was born June 2, 1930 on the family farm in the R.M. of Silverwood #123. George and his wife Doreen (Nixon) spent most of their lives on their mixed farming operation, where they raised three children.
George was predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn Doreen (November 17, 2017), his parents John and Annie; his brother and sisters Mary (Jim) Lasek, Walter (Ruby), Lena (William) Clark, Louis (Jean), John (Dorothy), Annie (Joe), Stan (Clara), Frank (Gladys), and Joe.
George is survived by his loving family: daughter Dianne (Donald) Beutler, daughter Donna Brill (Neil Penner) and son Bruce Szafron; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Joan Szafron, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside service for George and Doreen will be held in Wapella, SK at a later date.
Donations in memory of George may be made to the Rockglen Health Care Auxiliary Memorial Fund for the Grasslands Health Centre, PO Box 338, Rockglen, SK S0H 3R0.
