Jim was born at Stavely, Alberta on July 28, 1938. He moved to Minnedosa, Manitoba when he was two years old. He attended school in Minnedosa and some high school was at Notre Dame College in Wilcox, Saskatchewan. He played some hockey for the Notre Dame hounds. He joined the Canadian Navy in 1955 with a few of his best buddies! He served for five years and remained on the Reserve List for many more. He moved to Red Lake, Ontario to start a career in mining. He went on to drive semi for Arnold Bros. Transport before he semi-retired and hauled grain and helped local farmers.

Jim loved all summer and winter sports. He was a strong swimmer, he enjoyed watching, playing and coaching hockey, he learnt to fly a plane, he loved fishing, snowmobiling, and enjoyed building an “A” frame cottage at Moosomin lake. Lots of family memories were made at the lake in that cottage.

Jim loved to keep up on what his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were up to. He would light up to hear stories of them. He was a proud grandfather.

Jim and Dorothy moved to Red Jacket in 2000 and raised wild boars and tinkered in his “shop”. He loved growing and eating new potatoes.
