Love is the only thing that we can carry with us when we go and Jack Ewasiuk left, on Sunday November 29, with the love of his family in his heart.

Jack is survived by his sons David (Maureen) and Gregory and by his brother Jerry (Marion). Also by his grandchildren, Kevin (Chandra), Tara (Danny), Ryan (Katherine), Erin (Nick), Britney (Chris), Koltin (Erin) and Teigin. Then there are the great-grandchildren, Khyra, Lukas, Abby, Zoe, Zack, Xyler, Braden, and a new one arriving spring, 2021.

In 1992, his darling wife Audrey, died much too young. 10 years ago, he gracefully accepted his health transition to a wheelchair which necessitated his selling his beloved home in Moosomin and leaving the garden that was his passion. He was proud that he was a good provider for his family and that he had been a dedicated employee during a long career with Trans Canada Pipelines. He was a superb card player, especially at crib and canasta and not too shabby a shuffleboard player. He was also dedicated to the SEICC recreational community and to the garden he helped create at Whispering Pines unit, SEICC. Jack was 95 and fiercely independent to the very end and he was proud of that fact.

The family would like to thank all the caring staff at SEICC. An extra special thanks goes to Shirley Lindsay, who was such a good friend to Jack and whom our family is ever indebted to. Thanks to Sara Gustafson for her care and concern. Thanks to Les for always looking after Jack on the handi-bus. Also thanks to his mealtime buddies, Sam McMullen, Ken Restau and Nita Dicken, for your friendship. We would also like to thank West Wind Florists and Greenhouse for their help with Jack’s Garden, especially Val.

Due to Covid-19 there was a limited invitation only service that was held on Friday, December 4 at 11 am at Carscadden Funeral Home, Moosomin.

Donations may be made by cheque to Long Term Care Recreation, c/o SEICC Recreation Department, PO Box 1470, Moosomin, Saskatchewan S0G 3N0. Sorry no tax receipts will be issued. The SEICC Recreation Department was Jack’s lifeline during his time there. The family would also like to thank the multitude of volunteers and performers and guests whom he interacted with over the years.

Of joy and love, a Life well spent. And now, to God, a father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather is sent. In the garden, at rest.
