Carroll was born on the farm near Welwyn, SW17-15-30, the eldest of the five living children, to Frank Carroll and Blanche Olive Elizabeth (neé James) Taylor. Carroll married Phoebe Jean Frazer, better known as Jean, in 1946. Together they raised six children: Kenneth, Larry, Glen, Ronald, Gloria and Elaine. Carroll and Jean farmed in the Old Welwyn district, making their home on W16-15-30, until they moved into the village of Welwyn in 1966.

Carroll worked hard over the years to provide for his family. He was a farmer, truck owner/operator, labourer, rink caretaker, truck driver, school bus driver, and finished his working years with the RM of Moosomin. Most of all Carroll was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Carroll and Jean moved to Moosomin in 2002 for their retirement years. Jean passed away December 25, 2011. Carroll struggled with loneliness after losing Jean, and was fortunate to meet Carol Leech. They were married May 2012, which brought happiness for both and peace of mind for their families knowing they were caring for one another this final year.

Carroll leaves to mourn his four siblings and their families: Evelyn (Frank, deceased) Johnston, Geordie (Josephine), Bob, Harvey (Pat); Carroll and Jean’s children: Ken (Donalda), Larry (Joanne), Glen (Janet), Ron (Shelley), Gloria Plester (Allan) and Elaine Crump (Murray); grandchildren and great-grandchildren Charlotte Taylor (Martin Bell) and son Zen, Scott Taylor (Holly), Kent Taylor (Teddi) and their children Emily, Nicole and Ethan, Devon Taylor (Krista) and daughters Avery and Evann; Curtis (Lisa) awaiting the arrival of great-grandchild #17, Shannon Miller (Dan) and son Ryder, Jaime Taylor, Cindie Jarvis (Chad) and son Reid, Andrew Plester, Adam Crump (Tanya) and sons Devin and Cole, Jennifer Smith (Greg) and Cale and Isabelle, Bryn Crump (Jena) and Shane and Kaydence, Tricia Hooper (Jay) and Kinsley and Blake. Also left to mourn are Carroll’s wife Carol Leech-Taylor and her family. Carroll was predeceased by his parents, an older brother Robert Carroll who died in infancy, beloved wife Jean, and brother-in-law Frank Johnston.

A funeral service took place on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Welwyn Cemetery, Welwyn, Saskatchewan.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Moosomin and District Healthcare Foundation, in memory of Carroll. E-mail or sign the online book of condolences at www.carscaddenfuneralchapel.com.
