Bill Plewes passed away peacefully at Golden Acres Lodge in Wynyard, Saskatchewan, on Friday, September 3, 2021, while receiving messages of love from his daughters. Bill was a Dad, Brother, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Husband, and Friend to all of us. He was born to Art and Ellen (née Potter) Plewes in the Stanley District, SK on January 29, 1929. Raised and educated in the Moosomin area of Saskatchewan, Bill was an older brother to Gerald. In 1951, Bill married Mary Matchett and together they raised a family of five daughters. Their family grew to include 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Over the years, Bill worked at numerous positions throughout his working career. His first job was at Fudge Industries, then on to a couple packing places, the Brandon City Police, and finally his own plumbing and heating business. He married Alice Derkacz in the early 80’s. They made their home in Kelvington, SK where he continued plumbing and she helped him. After retirement they enjoyed travelling the world together. Bill married Myrtle in 2007 and they enjoyed dancing, travelling, playing cards, and bowling. For many years, Bill coached hockey and played fastball and during his free time he liked to watch ball, hockey, and curling. He was very active in the senior’s clubs and the Senior Olympics.

Glad to be involved in his community, Bill was a member of the Sask Housing Board, SSFA, the School Board, and Town Council. We may no longer see him, but we’ll always have special memories that we will hold in a special place in our hearts. Bill and Myrtle were inseparable during their marriage and remained inseparable in death.

Bill will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his daughters and their families: Darlene (Bernard) girls Verna Cherry (Brad) Jace, Jaridan and Tayson, Michelle Lemcke (Kirk) Codie and Corby, Sheila Willoughby (Shawn), Leah (Tucker McMullen) and Tayte; Donna Brehaut daughters Nicole Lefebvre (Vince) Kylena and Rebecca, Tracy Gervais (Curtus) Jaiden and Kyler; Karen Campbell (Mervin) sons Michael Campbell (Stefanie) Ryder, Ethan, Everett, Sofie, and Daryl Campbell; Barb McIlmoyle (Norm) granddaughter Adrianna, daughters Billie Davis children Paydon and Ben, and Mary (David Lever) Chloe; Cheryl Plewes daughters Melissa Penney (John), children Riley and Alanna, Amanda Strand (Robert) Breanne and Kayden, Kimberly Penney (Travis VanMeer) Ember and Logan, Brenda Penney (Paul Stilman) Olivia and Weston; his brother Gerald (Audrey); only niece Brenda Higgins (Darren); and Myrtle’s family.
