It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend Billie Everett Walter Hooper on February 9, 2022, at the age of 74. Billie had a hard battle in Regina General Hospital ICU but after many complications he was peacefully reunited with his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Karen Hooper (Orth) who recently passed on January 16, 2022.

Billie was born in Esterhazy (August 18, 1947), the youngest of three siblings born to Harvey and Gladys Hooper. He attended elementary school at Perth Country School and high school in Rocanville. He left high school early to farm and later marry the love of his life, Karen, on August 5, 1972. They had two children; Todd (1974) and Theresa (1976). They created a beautiful life together, spending time with their close friends, neighbors and their growing family.

Billie was always willing to lend a hand and work hard to keep things running. He drove a grain truck for Johnstons and had a 35-year career working as a heavy duty industrial mechanic at IMC K2 mine in Esterhazy. He retired and continued to work on the farm until his last days exactly as he would have wanted. Billie loved gardening and had a large garden full of the fruits of his labour that was enjoyed by all the family and neighbours after Karen prepared them in canned or baked goods. He also loved working outside in his shop, enjoying the company of his dogs. His love of hockey was passed on and shared with his family. Billie always made time to support his grandkids cheering them on in the rink, no matter what age or how many miles away they were. His passion for the sport will continue to bring joy and unify us all.

Billie was the rock of the family and a big part of his community; offering support, wisdom and his witty remarks. His sense of humour is well known and will be greatly missed. His memory lives on in his family and those closest to him, as he touched the lives of an entire community.

Billie is predeceased by his wife Karen, parents Harvey and Gladys, and brother Laverne. He is survived by his Children Todd (Holly) and Theresa (Scott); Grandchildren Damian (Shaelyn and great granddaughter Cali), Jordan, Taylor, Braxton, Liam, Luke, and Lily; Sister Elaine (Bill) and a large loving extended family consisting of nieces, nephews, and many close friends and neighbors. The family would again like to add a special thank you to the Kelly family and Rebecca for all the help, support, and comfort you provided over the years and final days.

There will be a joint Celebration of Life for Bill and Karen held at Rocanville Nutrien Community Hall on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Please join us for a memorial service followed by lunch and time of fellowship. In lieu of flowers the family asks you make a donation in Billie’s name to the Rocanville Rink. Sign the online book of condolences at www.carscaddenfuneralchapel.com
