Steve was born in Taber, Alberta to Katie (Merkl) and Steve Turuk. He grew up on a mixed irrigation farm. Steve received his education in Taber and also attended university in Utah for one year. In 1967 Steve married Theresa Spengler and together they had three children: Rod, Roberta and Mark.

Steve began his career in agriculture working for Macdonald’s Consolidated, then moving on to being a grain buyer for Alberta Pacific Grain. In 1970 Steve took on a brand inspector position working out of Calgary. Eventually Steve was transferred to Brooks where he continued with the same job until he retired.

Living north of Brooks, Steve enjoyed watching his children grow. Steve enjoyed golfing and for years he ran the Brooks Cattlemen’s Golf Tournament. Other interests included fishing, hunting pheasants, playing his harmonica and going to countless brandings with his kids every year and visiting with his friends.

After Steve retired, he met Evelyn, they married and Steve moved to her farm near Kipling, Saskatchewan until his passing.

Steve was predeceased by his parents and his brother John. Steve is survived by his wife Evelyn, his children Rod (Jacquie), Roberta (Shawn) and Mark (Michelle). Steve has two beautiful grandchildren both going to universities in Alberta, Claudia Turuk and Jack Lawrence. Steve is also survived by his brother Joe and many nephews and nieces. Evelyn’s children were always there to support Steve. Missing their grandpa and great-grandpa from Saskatchewan are Caleb, Heidi, Meka, Alonzo, Peter, Sunny, Davidson, Amy, Isaac, Jessica, Brayden, William, Lillie, Jasmin, Everleigh, Emma and Ellie.

The funeral service was held in The People’s Church, Kipling, Saskatchewan on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Kevin Hassler officiating. If friends so desire, contributions may be made to the Kipling and District Health Foundation, Box 989, Kipling, SK S0G 2S0. Please put in the memo line: Emergency/Hospital.

The road Steve travelled was not always an easy one, the measurement of a man is by the love of his family and friends. The Lord has you now Steve. Online condolences may be made at www.tubmanfh.com.
