Charles (Chuck) passed away in his sleep in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on March 10, 2022, at the age of 83.

Chuck was born south of Moosomin, Sask. August 25, 1938. He lived in Moosomin through school, and started working at the World-Spectator when he was 14. He continued his career in newspapers in Estevan, and North Battleford, honing his skills as a typesetter and camera operator. He owned the La Salle Hotel in Antler, Saskatchewan from about 1964 to 1969. Then Chuck continued his career in newspaper production in Victoria, B.C., Courtenay, B.C. and Nanaimo, B.C. After his retirement he returned to Moosomin in 2007.

Chuck was an avid athlete, playing hockey for Moosomin, Esterhazy, Wapella and many, many more. He played, coached and was a referee well into his 60’s. He played baseball, softball and golf. In his last years he could be seen riding around on the mower at Pipestone Hills.

Chuck was predeceased by his parents, Arnold and Gladys, his brothers, Glen and Keith, and his niece Denise. He is survived by his sister Marj (Kissner), daughter Dawn, son Eugene and his four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Moosomin Minor Hockey in his name. There will be a celebration of life at the Uptown Hotel on March 26, 2022 from 3-5:30 pm.
