Grace Mary Reid passed away at SEICC Long Term Care Facility on October 9, 2021, just short of her 98th birthday.

Grace was born on the Robertson homestead south of McAuley, Manitoba on October 14, 1923, to Daniel and Elizabeth (Wells) Robertson. In 1928 the family moved to the sand plains along Beaver Creek, between McAuley and St. Lazare, where her father ran a custom grazing operation. Grace attended Park Plains School for eight years. Few families lived on the sand plains, but friendships were made there that lasted a lifetime. When the PFRA pasture was established, those families were forced to move, so the Robertsons bought a farm northwest of Moosomin.

Grace worked in a variety of jobs in her youth and was employed at the Rocanville Co-op when she met George Reid. They were married in 1953 and purchased a farm along Beaver Creek. Here they raised their children, Jocelyn and Murray, instilling in them an appreciation for the land and nature. George and Grace retired to Rocanville in 1981, but the farm is still run by three generations of Reids.

They spent their retirement traveling and camping in western Canada, making many trips to Prince Albert to see Jocelyn and her son, Chris, enjoying time with their music friends, and always being available for time with their four grandchildren.

After George passed in 2003, Grace moved into the Rocanville Lodge, where she lived independently until she was 94. In that time she spent years entertaining friends, family and her treasured little great- grandchildren. In 2017 Grace moved into long term care where she lived until her recent passing.

Grace was predeceased by her husband, George, her parents Daniel and Elizabeth (Wells) Robertson, her brothers Bill and Duncan, and all but one cousin.

She is greatly missed by daughter Jocelyn, (Wayne), grandson Chris, (Heather) Jeancart, Priya and Noah; son Murray, (Betty), grandchildren Ellie (Dana) Rookes, Jase and Emerson, Kelsey (Alyssa) Reid, Kessler and Coy, Daniel Reid.

We, her family, would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff in long term care for the care given to our mother and grandma during her years there, especially during the long lockdown. Your kindness never went unnoticed, and we are forever grateful.

On Saturday, April 16, a private graveside service will be followed by a lunch at the Rocanville Seniors Center at 2:00 p.m. Please join our family there for fellowship and remembrance of Grace.
