Moonlight Madness, Santa Day this week

December 2, 2013
By Kevin Weedmark

The Moosomin Chamber of Commerce is kicking off the Christmas shopping season this week with Moonlight Madness on Wednesday and Santa Day on Saturday.

Moonlight Madness
Local stores will be open late and will offer specials for Moonlight Madness, and Santa will be visiting town for Santa Day.

In addition to the sales for Moonlight Madness, the Chamber is giving away $500, $250 and $100 to three shoppers in draws Wednesday night.

Stores will be distributing Christmas Cash Cards. Shoppers must have their cards stamped at five businesses on Wednesday night to enter.

Shoppers may run into carollers while they’re out shopping Wednesday night, and the carollers will also be handing out hot chocolate as they make their rounds.

To make it easier for parents to get some Christmas shopping done, the Chamber is sponsoring a free showing of Elf at the Community Theatre at 7 p.m., so parents can get some shopping done while the kids are at the movie.

Santa Day
Santa will be appearing outdoors in Moosomin this year. The Kinsmen and Kinettes along with RBC are handling Santa Day this year, and plan an outdoor event in conjunction with the Kinsmen’s annual Christmas tree sale, so families can get their photos with Santa and pick up their tree all at the same time.

The Kinsmen are encouraging everyone to come out and get a photo with Santa this year—not just kids, but parents, families, whoever wants a fun photo with Santa in the snow.

Photos will be available with Santa at the tree lot located next to RONA from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m, and hot chocolate and cookies will be served.

A hot dog barbecue will be served at lunch time, then at 2 p.m., the Chamber will sponsor a free showing of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas at the Community Theatre.
