On Sunday, September 14, 2014 Annie Russell, widow of Douglas Russell of Mair, Sask. and late of Maryfield, Sask. passed away at the age of 92 years.

Annie Pearl Crampean was born October 26, 1921 the first daughter, second child born to Gordon and Hannah (McCaskill) Crampean. She was born on the home farm in the Ardine School District, which was mid way between the small towns of Vandura and Wawota, Sask.

Annie went to public school at Ardine and to high school at Vandura United Church. She went on to take teacher training in Regina in 1940 and 1941. She taught at Ardine, Bellhouse and Grangehurst schools. She spoke to her family numerous times about different individuals she had taught. They really must have been interesting to have remained in her mind all those years.

Annie married Douglas William Russell in August 1947 and they lived and farmed on the old Russell homestead at Mair. Doug and Annie loved to dance and attended many old time dances in the area. They raised three children, Melody, Neil and Beverly.

Doug died in July 2002 and Annie moved into Moosomin that fall. She lived in Moosomin until 2011 when she then moved to the Sunrise Villa in Maryfield.

She is survived by her daughter Melody (Harold) Sheane and grandchildren Karla (Chris) Bell and Christopher Sheane of Moosomin; son Neil (Sandra Kelly) Russell and grandchildren Andrew and Tiffany Russell, of Redvers and Chelsey Murray (Scott) of Melville, Sask. and great-grandchildren Paton and Jaxon; and daughter Beverly Russell and Michael Barber of Melville, Sask., as well as her sister Evelyn Mallett from Caledonia, Ont.

As she was in her 93rd year she was predeceased by numerous family members, the list too great to begin.

A graveside service was held on September 22, 2014 at the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Joan Rennie-Lang officiating.

The family of Annie would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at the Sunrise Villa in Maryfield for your care and friendship to Mom during her stay there. She was quite happy and content there. Thank you.
