On May 26, 2019 our beautiful mother, Anna Butala (née Primus) left us to go to heaven to join her husband Louis, parents Frank and Anna Primus (née Schuller) and her brother and six sisters.

Anna started her life October 13, 1923, in Lake Lenore, SK. As a young woman, she travelled to BC and worked as a waitress before returning to Lake Lenore to look after her grandparents. While there, she spotted her future husband Louis and declared to her grandmother that she was going to marry him. Anna and Louis were married July 26, 1948. They lived in Lake Lenore, SK for a few years where Joe, Anna and Kathy were born.

They eventually moved to Moosomin, SK and Pat and Sheila were born there. In 1960 they moved to Fleming and mom decided to foster three children who were all from the same family: Linden, Diane and Steve. She probably thought she was done having children but God had other plans and in 1965 Pamela Joy Ann was born.

Anna had many good friends in Fleming and enjoyed living there until Louis’ death in 1979. She then moved to Moosomin where she worked as a home care provider and with her unique gift for kindness, she made many lifelong friends. She lived there until Pam got married and asked her to move to Rosetown. She moved into the Lions Manor, became its president, librarian, and all around go-getter. She loved playing cards, knitting and doing crossword puzzles. Anna also loved to travel to visit her other children and grandchildren, some as far away as the NWT.

After she moved to Elrose, she was able to spend more time with Pam’s children, making hot lunches for them (and their friends) and enjoyed attending the kids’ sporting events and other activities. Anna liked knitting and gave away hundreds of hats and mitts to the Red Cross, her grandchildren, and anyone who had a wish for something particular. She enjoyed a good game of Skip-bo; the games were always played with sneaky moves and hoots of laughter.

Anna is survived by her children—Joe, Anna, Kathy (John), Pat (Carmen), Sheila (Norm), Pam (Bob), Linden, Diane, and Steven; grandchildren—Wade (Paula); Sean, Quincy, London; Rocky, Ryan, Kali-Ann; Auralea (Richard), Marcene (Corwin), Rojean (Evan); Ben (Kathryn), Jon (Bridget), Sara; Stephen Mathew, John Cori, Teresa, Steve; great-grandchildren—Brayden, Cameron, Stephen Carter, Saphire, Grady, Alana, Carlin, Shamus, Kealyn, and Hayden. She will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna had an undying faith in God; no matter what life dealt her, she always had the same answer “Prayer changes things.”

A Celebration of Life for Anna was held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Shanidar Chapel, 510 Young Street, Rosetown at 2 pm. with Mr. Joseph Jerome presiding. Donations in memory of Anna may be made to Elrose Health Centre—Auxiliary, P.O. Box 100, Elrose, SK. S0L 0Z0.
