The March meeting of the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce is set for Tuesday, March 26, 11:45 am at the Canalta Hotel meeting room. Lunch is served and everyone is welcome. There is lots on the agenda:

Play Fair Daycare update
There will be an update on plans for Play Fair Daycare’s second building and the spring Smile Cookie campaign, with proceeds going toward the day care. The Daycare and Tim Hortons Moosomin’s goal is to set a new record for Smile Cookie sales in Moosomin, and to have the top sales in the province again.
Last spring, Moosomin had the highest Smile Cookie sales ever for the community and the highest in the entire province, bringing in a total of $34,335. Play Fair Daycare has received approval for 90 additional spaces, which would require a second building.

Cenotaph Centennial
A group is working on plans for a Cenotaph Centennial event Saturday, June 8. It was 100 years ago that the Cenotaph was unveiled in Moosomin. Brian Beckett of the Cenotaph 100 Committee will update chamber members on plans for the event, and will have a sample of a commemorative miniature cenotaph that is being sold as a fundraiser for the event.

First Aid Kit Fundraiser
The Moosomin Kinettes will talk about their First Aid Kit Fundraiser and will be taking orders for First Aid Kits. They are selling a range of first aid kits.

Moosomin Housing Authority Update
Retiring Moosomin Housing Authority manager Sheilagh Garrett and new Housing Authority manager Teddi Taylor will provide an update on the Housing Authority and its role in the community. There have been a lot of changes in the housing authority board—Kevin Weedmark is chair, Darcy Rambold is vice-chair, and three new members are in the process of being appointed—Larry Miskiman, Darrell Light, and Glenn Wilton. The Housing Authority is responsible for 141 housing units in Moosomin, Fleming, and Wapella.

Ukrainian Community organizes new group
The local Ukrainian community is formally organizing an association for fundraising and service projects. Roman Chernykh of the Ukrainian Community will explain the plans for the group.

New businesses
A couple of new businesses will be introduced at the March Chamber meeting.
• Eddy and Jolene DeVries of Anytime Fitness will join the meeting to talk about their gym, which is now open.
• JMC Property Holdings and Services is a new business involving three partners that offers property maintenance services and has a couple of contracts for commercial buildings already.
