This year’s Bobby Vargo Memorial Slow Pitch Tournament held on the July 1 long weekend has raised a total of $47,284.10.

This year’s tournament was the 10th tournament, bringing the 10-year total of funds raised for the community to $193,281.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend to host our 10th Annual Tournament,” said the Vargo family in a statement last week. “The weather was amazing, and the people who came and supported the tournament were even better.

“We want to once again thank all of our amazing sponsors, and silent auction donors. Kelly Kish and the town crew for getting the diamonds back together, Bobby Brynell and his crew, our entire committee for all they did to make sure the weekend ran as smoothly as possible.

“But most importantly we want to thank all of you, for once again choosing to spend your long weekend with us. We appreciate all of you so much. This year we had the privilege of partnering with KidCare, The Lions Club, Kipling Firefighters, Kipling Skating Club, Kipling Youth Centre and the Kipling Royals.

“After all expenses we are proud to announce we raised $47,284.10 which puts us at a 10 year total of $193,281!

“Ten years ago we started a ball tournament. We had no idea what to expect, but we always had one goal—make Bobby proud. There is no doubt in mind that Bobby is proud of his hometown, and all the fundraising efforts.

“Thank you again and we will see you next July long!”
