Moosomin Town Councillor Andie Hodgson told Moosomin Chamber of Commerce members at their meeting last week that volunteers are needed for the Community Cleanup planned for June 11 in Moosomin.
“Our community cleanup day is Wednesday, June 11 and it will be from 9 am to 7 pm. This is a drop in. So you can drop in to the Sportsplex deck and register and that will help us map out where everyone is going and what has already been done,” Hodgson said.
Hodgson says longer hours were chosen for the cleanup this year so that people can pick and choose a time that works for them during those hours.
“With the flexible schedule, we are asking that staff come out through a portion of the day to help us clean up. The schools are getting involved, individuals as well.
“It’s really to take pride in our community.
“There are a few things we are doing a bit differently this year. We’re going to have tree trimming available, so if you have branches or if people are doing tree trimming that day, the town will come and clean them up from curbside—so that will be happening from 8 am to 3 pm. You just place them there and the town will pick them up and mulch them up for you.
“We will have coffee and water at the Sportsplex. We ask that if you have a reusable cup to bring it because you will be going out to your destination area to clean. We will also supply garbage bags. Bring gloves, shoes, whatever keeps you comfortable.
“We do this every year because we love our community and we want to make sure that we are keeping it looking proper.
“What we do need is volunteers, so we do ask that you try to take some time out of your schedule to try and come participate with us.
“Dairy Queen has once again offered to supply dilly bars for the schools. Both the elementary and high school are taking a big chunk of their day out to assist with the community cleanup and we appreciate that.
“If it’s possible that you can arrange some time for yourself or your family or your employees, we would be greatly appreciative of that, and then you just stop at the Sportsplex deck, register and we’ll split up some areas and have garbage bags available for you.”
