Manslaughter charge laid in Wolseley woman’s death

On August 18, 2024 at approximately 4 am, Indian Head RCMP received a report of a shooting at a residence in Wolseley, SK.
Officers immediately responded and located an injured woman, who was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. She has been identified as 18-year-old Keilia Windigo from Wolseley. Her family has been notified.
A youth male was arrested at the scene.
As a result of subsequent investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes, the youth male – who is from Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation – is charged with:
• one count, manslaughter with firearm, Section 236(a), Criminal Code;
• one count, possession of a firearm while knowing it’s unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code;
• one count, pointing a firearm, Section 87, Criminal Code;
• one count, possession of a loaded restricted firearm without a license, Section 95, Criminal Code.
• six counts, weapons possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code; and
He is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on August 19, 2024 (Information #Y317935).
