A new scholarship was presented at the McNaughton High School Grade 12 awards on Thursday, August 26.

The Colleen McPhee Memorial Scholarship was presented by Wendy Ireland of MNP Moosomin to student Annabelle Korth.

The new scholarship is in honor of the late Colleen McPhee. McPhee was a McNaughton High School Grade 12 student who lost her life suddenly last spring in a vehicle accident, just weeks before graduation. The accident was a major shock to the Grade 12 graduating class and to staff and students at McNaughton High School.

Sponsored by MNP, the $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduate who has been accepted into a post secondary institute for a trade.

“The tragic loss of someone so young is heartbreaking for the family, friends and entire community,” says Corie Wudrick-Mohrbutter with MNP Moosomin.

“Colleen’s mom, Roma, is a member of our local MNP team and we decided that sponsoring a scholarship to a graduate who is pursing post-secondary education for a trade would be a wonderful way to honor Colleen and show our support.”
