The Moosomin Visual Arts Centre received its first donation last week in the form of a $2,000 cheque from the Moosomin Thrift Store. The money will be used as startup funds for the arts centre, which needs to purchase equipment in order to host classes.

The Moosomin Visual Arts Centre plans to host visual arts programming in a number of different mediums, from pottery to painting to woodworking to fabric arts, and for all ages and abilities. They also plan to do children’s programming, and incorporate as many cultures as possible in the various different classes and courses they host.

“There’s nothing like this in Moosomin, so it’s a good initiative to give back and to help the arts centre get off the ground and to buy supplies,” says Samantha Campbell with the Moosomin Thrift Store.

“I think it’s going to make a big difference in just getting us started,” says Terry Grant with the Moosomin Visual Arts Centre committee.

“This will help with the initial supplies we are going to need,” adds Jacqui Beckett with the Moosomin Visual Arts Centre committee. “We’re very excited.
