Moosomin’s first-ever hot chocolate festival will start on Monday, December 1 and run until Sunday, December 7. Last week the seven restaurants involved the event were working on their different hot chocolates, and each restaurant will be rolling out a different hot chocolate creation on December 1.

Over the course of the week, people can try all seven different hot chocolates and then vote on their favorite at hotchocolate@world-spectator.com for a chance to win Moosomin Bucks.

The seven participating restaurants are Trends Mercantile, the Crate House, Cork & Bone, The Red Barn, Witch’s Brew, The Country Squire and Dairy Queen.

“We thought this would be a fun thing to do during the Christmas season, and we planned it for the same week as some other Christmas events like Moonlight Madness on Dec. 4, the free matinee movie on Dec. 6, and Santa Day on Dec. 7,” says Chamber president Kevin Weedmark.

“Everyone loves hot chocolate, and we thought this would be a fun and easy thing for our local restaurants to do during this busy season. It will also give shoppers one more reason to pop into those restaurants and enjoy a hot chocolate, a meal or a treat while they are there.

“It’s always fun to have lots going on during the week of Moonlight Madness, and this just adds to it with something fun for everyone.”

All seven restaurants are being extra creative with their drinks. The Crate House will be serving a candy cane hot chocolate with an option to add espresso to make it a mocha latte. It is being served with whipped cream and a candy cane. Trends Mercantile is serving a lavender white hot chocolate. The Red Barn is serving a butter pecan hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle.

Dairy Queen is planning on serving a frozen hot chocolate that comes in three flavors—caramel, double fudge, and peanut butter. Witch’s Brew is serving a gingerbread brown sugar hot chocolate. The Country Squire is serving a melted snowman hot chocolate, and Cork and Bone is serving two creations—a black forest hot chocolate and a toasted coconut white hot chocolate.
