Kipling Town Council has passed a motion to hire Tara Carter as the town’s new Recreation and Culture Manager.

Carter was town councillor, and resigned from her council seat as soon as she accepted the position.

That means a by-election will need to held for Carter’s vacant council seat. The by-election date has been set for May 13, with April 8 as the deadline for nominations.

Carter was elected in the last municipal election, and is involved in a number of groups in Kipling.

No CAP funding for Kipling in 2026
At their meeting on Monday, Kipling Town Council found out that the town will not be receiving any funding under the Community Airport Program this year.

The town had applied for $275,000 to repave a portion of the runway at the Kipling Airport.

CAP is a provincial program that provides funding for regional, community-owned airports in Saskatchewan each year.

Communities must apply for the funding annually.
