Mel Spencer hired as new pool manager

At their meeting on Wednesday, Rocanville Town Council passed a motion to hire Mel Spencer as the new manager at the Universe Satellite Aquatic Centre. Spencer began work at the pool last week.
The town also passed a motion to add Travis Logan to the public works team.
Draft Tournament a success
As part of the rec report, council heard that the Draft Tournament from April 2-3 was well supported with six teams and close to 100 skaters, as well as a packed house in the rink.
The event was a fundraiser for the rink. The town is looking at forming a rink fundraising committee made up of members of the council, rec department, and community members to actively fundraise for the rink on an ongoing basis for rink refurbishment costs.
The rink is now closed for the winter season.
Budget in the works
Town Administrator Tanya Strandlund told council that she is getting close to having a final budget ready. She says this year’s budget will focus on accessibility projects in the town, and also long-term infrastructure investments.
