At the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce meeting this Tuesday, Dr. Ross Kerkhoff will give a presentation on the Patient Medical Home program that will see annual funding for six additional heath care professionals at the Moosomin Family Practice Centre.
Under the program, Moosomin is receiving $768,000 annually to add 6.2 new FTE positions at the Moosomin Family Practice Centre, including 2.5 FTE Registered Nurses, 1.25 FTE Dietitians, 1.25 FTE Behavior Therapists, 0.2 FTE Pharmacist, and 1.0 FTE Medical Office Assistant.
Kerkhoff will talk about how the program works and how it will enhance health care services in Moosomin.
Funding under the PMH program was expanded to Moosomin as part of the 2026 provincial budget.
Snowplane presentation
Lisl Gunderman and Darrell Hunter will be talking about their successful 2025 summer season touring Southeast Saskatchewan and Southwest Manitoba with their restored Fudge snowplane and museum trailer.
“We set up as an attraction for a total of 20 days last summer. We believe the snowplane has now been seen by over 14,000 people. We were featured again on CTV News Regina. We helped the Alameda Museum raise over $2,000 in one evening last July and we also donated $2,000 to the Moosomin Regional Museum last fall. Our 2026 summer has a total of 12 event day bookings so far. And, very exciting for us, we are booked to be a featured attraction in Edmonton at the Alberta Powersports Show October 16 and 17 and this show is the largest snowmobile and ATV show in Western Canada,” says Lisl Gunderman.
Lisl says they will update Chamber members on plans and preparations that are underway for the Chamber of Commerce Parade on July 11. “In our travels last summer, we promoted the 2026 Fudge Industries themed Chamber of Commerce Parade day in Moosomin wherever we went, and have tried to attract as many snowplanes as possible to be in the parade. Running or not, we are trying to attract as many winter vehicles as possible from all over the prairies,” says Gunderman.

“A special guest is coming on July 11. A member of the Fudge family is planning to attend. George Fudge, son of the Fudge Industries owner and proprietor Robert J. Fudge, lives in Kamloops, B.C. He and his wife Joy are in their 80’s. They are planning on making the trip out and are really looking forward to it. Other family members may attend as well.
“After the parade wraps up, there will be an official gathering at the Moosomin Regional Museum grounds. All of the snowplanes and winter transportation vehicles from the parade will be showcased on display over at the museum grounds. Our travelling snowplane museum trailer and restored Fudge snowplane will be on display there as well for people to take a look at. We may have a donation of bison burgers, so the Museum Committee could be having a bison burger fundraiser at the museum after the parade. All are welcome!”
Provincial budget presentation
Moosomin-Montmartre MLA Kevin Weedmark will talk about the provincial budget and touch on some of the things in the budget that he thinks are important to the Moosomin area and to his riding.
Mike Schwean arena upgrades
Rec Director Mike Schwean will talk about upgrades that are planned for the Mike Schwean Arena, and some of the fundraising initiatives planned to cover the costs of those upgrades. Schwean is hoping to see the Mike Schwean Arena significantly upgraded by 2028.
Housing incentive
Moosomin Economic Development Officer Jeff Cole will talk about Moosomin meeting its goal under the $30,000 housing incentive program that the town launched after receiving the federal Housing Accelerator Fund. The town has seen 44 units built under the program.
The meeting is planned for Tuesday, April 7 at 11:45 am at the Moosomin Sportsplex. Lunch will be served and everyone is welcome. Tweet
