Moosomin has a flourishing downtown core of many wonderful businesses that is meant to be explored on your sweet and easy Saturdays this summer.
Lately, I have been treating our downtown Moosomin as my easy Saturday treat of getting out of the house and walking our streets of downtown like it is a lakeview, cottage-feeling, simple downtown.

Picture this: You wake up with no schedule, no alarm, and no rush to get anything done for the day. You even have your phone turned off because there is nothing that’s going to bother you on your easy Saturday. You get ready by picking out a cute set with some comfy sandals, favourite bag, and go on a coffee date with your mom or your friends at Witch’s Brew. You are served a fresh cup of coffee to start your sweet Saturday.

Next, you tour around with your iced coffee or sweet drink in hand touring each store you see. The sun is beaming with a subtle wind blowing your hair.
You walk into Kari’s Kloset and are greeted with smiles and bright summer linens, or you stop at McPhail Travel for some cute scents to freshen your home, and adore all of the jewelry. You may even walk into Sew Creative for your next knitting, quilting, or homemade craft project you’ve been dying to do for the past few summers and now have the time.

Or one of my favourites, stopping into New Sky Nails Salon with your friends for a fresh, new pedicure—yellow, pink, or blue—to really feel the calming summer feeling on your peaceful walk.

You could also be finishing those few errands you just couldn’t get to through your busy week at Kari’s Pharmacy, and really feel like you accomplished something on your easy Saturday.

The opportunities are endless for your morning walk browsing and chatting throughout the brisk hours before stopping into The CrateHouse for some lunch. Seriously I think The CrateHouse is meant for a boardwalk, near some fresh water with all its fresh sandwiches and desserts.

Just wait though, your sweet and peaceful Saturday isn’t over yet. After a good chat and a filling lunch at The CrateHouse you and your friends tour Haven for some more shopping with the latest sandals, hats, and graphic tees, but also stopping next door and grabbing a refreshing Dirty Soda from Trends Mercantile after draining yourself with all the walking, talking, and shopping.

You may even want to stop in at Third Avenue to buy some freshly cut and arranged flowers for an upcoming birthday, celebration, or just because you deserve to treat yourself, and want flowers.

Lastly, you end your Saturday around mid afternoon, grabbing one last sweet treat of cookies, dainties, or ice cream to end the most perfect and peaceful Saturday enjoying Moosomin’s downtown businesses.

I really love any free Saturday I get to tour and enjoy our amazing businesses downtown and making Moosomin feel like it is a destination away for the summer. I treat it as if it is my getaway rather than just coming back to town each summer.

The local businesses make it feel like it is living in a Hallmark movie, with friendly faces and easy strolls down Main Street filled with shopping, coffee, and anything you want to find. Especially in the summer, it just feels like a movie.

Downtown Moosomin holds the heart of our town and is meant to be explored on your easy Saturdays. I hope this inspired you to tour and enjoy every minute of the warm sun on your walk of exploring downtown Moosomin.

After writing this I realize it is based on a girly perspective, and is so feminine, so I really don’t know what the guys may do downtown other than maybe buy some electronics or toys at Glasser’s TV, that they really don’t need, but have always wanted like a random sound bar or speaker for their TV or truck, who knows.

Thank you to our local businesses for giving Moosomin a sweet charm with your uniqueness and friendliness.
