The Moosomin Rodeo Association’s Bulls & Broncos event returns Saturday, July 11, at the Moosomin Rodeo Grounds. Chelan Dequier gave an update on plans for the event at the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce meeting last week.
The rodeo begins at 7 pm, with gates opening at 6 pm. Events include bull riding, saddle bronc riding and junior steer riding. Beer gardens will be open throughout the evening, with the Back 40 Drifters performing during the cabaret beginning at 9 pm.

Dequier said this year’s event will continue to focus on supporting local organizations.

“We’re donating back to the community or helping out multiple groups within the community in one night,” Dequier said.

She said the event has also placed an emphasis on using local competitors, stock contractors and entertainers whenever possible.

“Our main goal is to keep everything within a few miles’ radius and hopefully get a good turnout from the town,” she said.

Minor Ball will operate the food concession and keep all proceeds from food sales. The Moosomin Fire Department will receive the proceeds from the Calcutta, while local senior hockey teams will assist with security and receive a portion of the proceeds. Beckett said another donation will also be made following the event to a local organization.

A live Calcutta will also be held for the short-round bull riding, with bidders purchasing the rider they think will win. The winning bidder will receive a portion of the pot.

Admission is $20 for the rodeo and cabaret, with children five and under admitted for free. Cabaret-only admission is $20. The event is cash only.
