Here’s what’s planned for the day in the surrounding communities:

Events at Legion,Bradley Park in Moosomin
Canada Day will be a special celebration in Moosomin this year as community members and visitors come together on July 1 to celebrate the country, the community, and the people who make Moosomin and Canada such a great place to call home.

The day will begin with a historic celebration at the Moosomin Legion, which is marking 100 years of service to veterans, families, and the community. A ribbon cutting ceremony for a commemorative crosswalk will take place at 11 am at the four-way stop on Main Street, followed by a free lunch with burgers, beverages, and cake. Families can also enjoy a penny auction and rock painting activities throughout the afternoon from 1-3 pm.

The festivities continue at the Nutrien Sportsplex and Bradley Park, where a variety of activities will showcase the spirit and growth of the community. From 2 pm to 5 pm, the Canada Day Classic Car Show will fill the Sportsplex parking lot with vintage vehicles and community pride. Beer gardens will also be available on site, and the Moosomin Visual Arts Centre will host an Art Show and Sale, highlighting the creativity and talent of local artists.

At 3 pm, guests are invited to gather at the REMAX Court in Bradley Park for the Moosomin Parks and Recreation Awards, recognizing individuals and organizations who have made outstanding contributions to the community. A free barbecue will follow after the awards presentation.

The afternoon will also feature several grand opening that reflect Moosomin’s continued investment in recreation. New additions at Bradley Park include PM Golf World, offering free youth and adult beginner golf lessons and horseshoe lessons; the West Points Best Friends Dog Park; and Pickle Park, the new Moosomin pickleball courts, which will be open for everyone to enjoy.

Parade, events at Elkhorn museum
As Canadians prepare to celebrate the nation’s birthday, the community of Elkhorn, Manitoba, is once again coming together for a day packed with family fun, local traditions, great food, and community spirit. From an early morning pancake breakfast to an evening of entertainment, there will be activities for all ages throughout Canada Day.

The festivities begin bright and early with a Pancake Breakfast from 8 am to 10 am behind the RM office, offering community members and visitors a chance to start the day with a delicious meal while catching up with friends and neighbors.
One of the highlights of the day will be the Canada Day Parade, which gets underway at 12 noon down Richhill Avenue. The parade promises to showcase community pride, local organizations, and festive Canada Day spirit as visitors line the streets to celebrate together.

Following the parade, activities continue at the Antique Auto Museum, where there will be a barbecue hosted by the RM council from 1 pm to 3 pm. Visitors can enjoy a meal while taking in the museum’s unique attractions. The museum grounds will also feature a threshing display, giving guests a glimpse into Manitoba’s agricultural heritage.

Families will find plenty to keep children entertained throughout the afternoon. A variety of kids’ activities are planned, ensuring younger visitors have opportunities to play, explore, and celebrate alongside the rest of the community.

For those looking to relax and socialize, the Beer Garden will be open from 1 pm until 11 pm, providing a gathering place for adults to enjoy the festivities. Food will also be available through Kliever Katering’s Cold Plate Meal, with advance tickets available for $18 and on-site meals offered for $20 while supplies last.

The Canada Day celebration in Elkhorn reflects the values that make rural Manitoba communities special: volunteerism, pride, and a strong sense of community. Whether attending the parade, enjoying the museum exhibits, enjoying a meal, or watching the agricultural demonstrations, community members and visitors will have plenty of opportunities to celebrate what it means to be Canadian.
