On Sunday, September 24, 2017, at approximately 3:00 am, the Virden RCMP received a report of a structure fire located at an abandoned property, known as the Two Creek School, located in the RM of Wallace-Woodworth.

Police and fire crews arrived at the structure to find in completely ablaze. After battling the fire for several hours, it was eventually extinguished.

Due to the building having been condemned and full of debris, an immediate cause of the fire could not be determined.

On September 27, 2017, while investigating an unrelated matter, 19-year-old Jack Noel Sandy, of Virden, was arrested and charged with multiple offences including arson in regards to this incident. He was remanded into custody and will appear in Brandon Provincial court on October 12.

RCMP have also arrested a 22-year-old and have released him on a Promise to Appear for court scheduled Dec 8, 2017, in Brandon Provincial Court.

Virden RCMP would like to thank the community for their assistance in helping solve the Two Creeks fire, and are asking for their continued help in providing additional information in relation to the Downtown fire that occurred 24 hours earlier on 7th Avenue.
