Arthur Paulsen passed away January 29, 2025, at Brandon General Hospital at the age of 88.
Arthur was born May 9, 1936, on the family farm south of Redvers. He was the sixth of eight children born to Paul and Caroline Paulsen. He went to Edenvale School after which he chose to pursue his passion for farming, working with his dad and brother Norman.
Arthur married Denise Carriere on November 10, 1962, and from this union two children were born—Cindy and Duane. They continued to farm in Redvers until 1969 when they moved to Maryfield to start farming on their own.
In 1984, they sold the farm and moved to an acreage south of Brandon. Art worked for a few years renovating and roofing homes before he became the maintenance person for Dinsdale Personal Care Home. They spent a summer season running a fishing camp in Ontario where they made a lot of good friends. When they came back, Art became the caretaker at Hobbs Manor in Brandon and worked there until his retirement in 2001.
Arthur’s retirement years were spent working on the farm with Bill and Cindy, working in his shop, and travelling with Denise.
Arthur is lovingly remembered by Denise, his wife of 62 years, his daughter Cindy (Bill) Scott and son Duane Paulsen. He also leaves to mourn- his oldest sister Margot Bouthillier, sisters-in-law Louise Paulsen, Claire Madsen, Leona Curle, Aline Rioux, Marilyne Carriere and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arthur was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Caroline Paulsen, Denise’s parents, Aime and Yvonne Carriere, his four brothers—Victor, Henning, Ansgar and Norman, his sisters Astrid and Eleanore, his brothers-in-law Ed Matthewson, Terrence O’Brien, Joe Bouthillier, Andy Carriere, Neville Wells, Pete Raimbault and nephew Brian Raimbault.
A graveside service will be held June 27, 2025, at 2 pm CST (3 pm DST) at the Dannevirke Lutheran Cemetery, Redvers, Sask. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
