It is with sadness that the family of Dawna Frazer, beloved wife of the late Robert John Frazer (Jack), announces her passing at the Airdrie Care Community on Friday, June 6, 2025 at the age of 93 years.

Dawna was the loving mother of Bonnie Ann (Frazer) Denomme (Mike) of Crossfield, AB and Darrell Robert Frazer (Susan) Airdrie, AB. She will also be dearly missed by her five grandchildren: Carolyn (Ryan), Daniel (Jennifer), John (Stacey), Jeremy (Melissa), and Steven (Megan); nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her brother Terry Tilley (Bernadette); and by her many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dawna was predeceased by the love of her life Jack Frazer, her parents Bill and Agnes Tilley, her sister Willa Rae Overholt, and her many aunts and uncles from the farm.

Dawna was born on a farm near the village of Welwyn, Saskatchewan, to Bill and Agnes Tilley, the eldest of three children. From a young age, she was full of energy and had a deep love for hockey and baseball. She cherished time spent with her father, especially after his return from the war. Dawna was a hard worker, dedicating her summers to helping out on the farm alongside her uncles.

Her strong work ethic continued as she entered the workforce as a telephone operator in Rocanville. Shortly after, she married the love of her life, Jack Frazer, in 1951, and the following day they left to settle in Calgary, where they later welcomed their two children, Bonnie Ann and Darrell.

Dawna’s early years were grounded in faith, attending church with her parents—her father being Anglican and her mother United. That faith continued throughout her life, as she and Jack raised their children in the Northminster United Church. She was also an active member of the Winston Heights Community Centre and the Royal Canadian Legion, all while being a devoted mother and wife.

In their later years, Dawna and Jack loved camping and traveling to warmer destinations. Dawna also pursued creative passions like painting, poetry, and learning the violin, and she deeply valued time spent with family and friends.

After Jack’s passing in 2008—a loss she felt profoundly—Dawna, who had long been a pillar of strength in the family, found herself leaning on her loved ones for support. In her final years, she found great joy in sharing stories of her life with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always maintaining her warmth, humour, and love of dancing.

Dawna will be forever remembered in our hearts.
