The world lost a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend when David Henry Griemann passed away on June 1, 2025 at the age of 61 in the Southeast Integrated Care Centre in Moosomin, Saskatchewan.
David was born to Henry and June Griemann on April 13, 1964 in Moosomin, Saskatchewan. He grew up on a farm outside of Welwyn; this is where his passion for farming (and fixing) began. If he wasn’t on the farm, he could be found playing hockey or softball, depending on the season.
After graduating from high school, David continued his education at ACC in Brandon where he received a diploma in Farm Machinery Mechanics. From here, David started working for Miller Farm Equipment (now Rocky Mountain Equipment). He made this place his second home and dedicated 37 years to serving farmers and the agricultural community. David loved his job as a heavy duty mechanic and was able to figure out so many problems. He enjoyed logging long hours in his service unit where he worked on his own getting the equipment back in the field. Over the years, David collected many tools. In his toolbox, he even had a drawer labeled as “missing pieces and engineer’s brains”—this drawer was always empty. He was always only a phone call or FaceTime away to fix whatever needed improvement or fixing.
David was also known as “Dad” to two very special daughters (Madi and Cassidy). He also picked up an honorary daughter along the way (Bella). To David, the girls were his world and he would do absolutely anything for them. He was a “team chauffeur” and was always the first to volunteer to drive for any of the girls’ sports teams. David learned an outstanding amount of information about “girl stuff” (i.e. dating, make-up, clothes, fights and high school drama). Yet, he never spoke a word about anything that he heard. Along with being a driver, David was also a ball and hockey coach. He found a nickname for all of the kids and was always giving the girls constant encouragement. Coaching or in the stands, David was always a huge supporter of his girls’ sports teams.
As a friend, David never had a bad word to say about anyone. He took everything in stride and did not get worked up over much (other than the occasional CFL or NHL reffing incident). He loved to listen and was a very witty man. Those sitting close to him were always the lucky ones because they were the only ones that could hear his quiet, witty remarks.
David was an amazing husband. He loved his wife (Lenora) more than words could describe. She was his everything and he is still hers. Family meant the world to David and he did everything he could to provide his family with endless opportunities to have fun and enjoy life. David loved being around his family. Whether it be a front yard football game or a celebration supper, David loved spending time and catching up with all of his cousins, aunts, and uncles.
In the last four years of David’s life, he was battling an illness called Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) which is a rare, neurodegenerative disorder that causes certain areas of the brain to deteriorate. Although his mobility was limited, his personality remained the same. His love for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Habs remained strong and his already large sweet tooth somehow grew even bigger. Butter tarts, nanaimo bars, cookies, apple fritters and Beatrice chocolate milk were all keys to his heart.
David’s heaven welcome crew consisted of his parents (June and Henry Griemann), a long-time best friend (Darren McGonigal), and many more. His legacy will live on through his wife (Lenora Griemann), his daughters (Madi and Cassidy), his sons-in-law (Tyler Fleming and Kyle Richardson), his sister (Eva Griemann), her partner (Gord Duncan) and his honorary daughter (Isabella Pomeroy).
Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) is a rare, progressive neurodegenerative condition that affects the body’s motor and autonomic functions. It is a condition that slowly impacts an individual’s ability to move, speak, and perform everyday tasks. MSA affects the brain and nervous system, causing problems with co-ordination, balance, and other essential functions like heart rate, blood pressure, and digestion.
